A Sr. Web Performance Engineer is an experienced expert in the discipline of web performance tuning. The role may compass a wide array of technical aspects that affect performance, with an emphasis on front-end technology. A senior Web Performance Engineer is up-to-date on fast changing web performance best practises, is able to analyze issues, measure performance, and improve code to gain performance wins. Given the seniority of the role, the person is also expected to have excellent writing skills and is able to professionally community results and findings to other stakeholders.

• Minimum 5 years of experience with HTML5
• Minimum 3 years of experience with CSS3
• Advanced JS skills (vanilla, jQuery, frameworks)
• At least 3 years of experience in responsive design techniques
• Expert level knowledge of modern web performance best practices
• Able to do deep dive performance analysis using standardized tools (webpagetest.org, Chrome dev tools, Lighthouse, etc)
• Detailed understanding of modern performance metrics like Time to first paint, interactive, etc.
• Minimum 1 year of experience with a CSS preprocessor (SASS or LESS)
• Able to independently refactor a piece of code in order to improve its performance
• Detailed understanding of do's and dont's, how code decisions lead to a specific performance impact
• Produce clear, readable and maintainable code
• Know and understand modern possibilities
• Be able to produce semantic, SEO-friendly markup
• Worked on at least 1 large scale website before (large code base, large user base)
• Able to demonstrate before/after analysis before applying a (code) change
• Great communication skills, both verbal as well as writing
• Great technical writer
• Able to take ownership of a topic/investigation
