Team Lead – SAP System Administration (BASIS)
Job Description:
The BASIS Team Lead will
? Work with a team of 10 to 15 administrators in support of the overall Basis activities.
? Actively engage in troubleshooting activities in case of Production Down scenario and coordinate efforts to
mitigate crisis situation at the earliest
? Coordinate with various technical & functional teams to bring the critical systems to normalcy in case of any
P1 issues
? Review technical solutions from Basis Admin perspective and suggest changes as per standard SAP best
practices
? Mentor team mates with respect to new technology skills, process improvements & in general keep up of the
critical systems/apps in the landscape
? Setup and Monitor alerts in the systems to keep an eye on the health of critical systems and proactively
suggests improvements in the framework
? Be responsible for SAP solution lifecycle management and for ensuring the performance and reliability of SAP
Systems.
? Perform landscape planning, hardware sizing, feasibility assessments, and new product research.
? Communicate to stakeholders in case of critical issues/showstoppers and drive the resolution strategy.
? Continuously evaluate quality process improvements in Build or run areas and devise rollout strategy for
those.
? Lead and Review the following administration activities: Install, configure, monitor, fine-tune, and
troubleshoot the SAP technical environment on an ongoing basis as well as planning & scheduling SAP
transport system.
? Will ensure security maintenance, patching, and printing, performance, and transport management.
? Collaborate and coordinate closely with various other IS teams to establish the infrastructure standards and
requirements for proper operation of SAP systems and landscapes and will provide the highest level of
technical expertise and consulting on SAP platforms.
? Participate in projects to implement and/or enhance SAP systems and applications and work with technical
and other IS teams to define user requirements, coordinate system-wide updates and install upgrades and
patches.
? Monitor, maintain and improve performance metrics for system features and recommends and takes
corrective/preventive actions on those metrics.
? Plan and co-ordinate Outages, Patching and any other activity impacting SAP landscape including impacts from
Application, Network, OS, Storage and database
? Be responsible to establish and test DR/HA Plans impacting the landscape
? Be accountable for the performance of subordinates or the work output of managed subcontractors.
Skills / Experience:
Required skills:
? 12+ years experience with SAP systems landscape management (BASIS) of which atleast 3 years in directly
managing multiple SAP production environments.
? Expert knowledge in management of the SAP environment including Net weaver, PI, BW, ECC, SCM, Enterprise
Portals, Solution Manager and in handling ABAP & JAVA Stacks.
? Hands on experience on HANA Installation, migration and administration of SAP HANA system integration
within an SAP Landscape. Role covers HANA Security, HANA SLT Configuration, Suite on HANA and BW on
HANA Migrations, HANA System Monitoring, HANA Install & Config, Health Check, and Monitoring.
? Experience handling at least 2 implementation and Upgrade & large scale application support engagements
projects in the Team lead or BASIS Manager Capacity.
? Should have experience in handing system admin teams of 4-6 resource in Build and support landscapes
? Preferred experience with running SAP on Oracle & HANA databases on Solaris/UNIX and Linux application
servers.
? Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to tailoring communications
to the audience.
? Able to work in ambiguous situations/environments; demonstrated ability to break down problems into
constituent parts and develop and drive plans for resolution.
Educational Qualification
? Four-year degree with a specialization in Computer science / Electronics with good academics
? Certification on System Administration or MIS focus (or equivalent) are preferred
